So after doing a lot of research on this bike i decided to go for it. I got it on time and the bike was packaged great. Next step was trying to put it together, know i have no experience doing this, all i have ever had was already built walmart bikes, so this was my first time. It took me longer than everyone has been saying, about half hour ish. I also did the break check and fixed them which is also in the directions so you know how to do them which was great. So i get it all together and take off the kind of lame stickers and tried it out on the road. It is amazing, now i have never had a road bike before so i cant compare it to anything but it still road great, the single gear was also different but i didnt have a problem with it. Overall i think it is a great bike with great looks, i had lots of people look at me today.

I was looking for a bike that I could commute a few miles to work in and occasionally run to the bar or the store etc. I'm a fan of road bikes and this is exactly what I was looking for. Not too expensive that you have to worry about it being stolen (too much), but very quick for around town. I'll agree with the other reviewers that the components are a bit "cheap", but they are exactly what you paid for, just basic parts. Fortunately since its a single speed you are skipping the part that often matters most if its cheap, which is the gears/shifters. Everything else is easily replaceable if you really want better. But then again, if you want a lot better, go buy a $500 name brand single speed. I weighed this (50cm) using a home scale, and it weighed 25 pounds completed.

I purchased this bike knowing I would upgrade some components & add some personalization immediately. The bike in stock condition is a bit heavy. Things done: replaced the brakes with anodized green ones, replaced the brake levers with Origin 8 levers and replaced the brake cables with white Jaguar cables. I replaced the seatpost with a white Origin 8 aluminum post and Zebra saddle & anodized green seat clamp. I retaped the handebars with lime green cork and replaced the chain with a lime green chain. The biggest change and weight saver is I have mounted my Spinergy Rev X carbon fiber rear wheel & Zipp Tangente tire. I also removed all decals. The rest of the parts will be upgraded as they are used up. Thanks for reading and get out and ride. I have included a few pics so you can get the idea...

Thanks

First I will start by saying that Im not a pro in biking. Im just a regular guy who is sick of hybrid bikes and wanted to own a decent bike without having to pay tons of money for it. I have had this bike for several months now and I use it to commute to school between now and then. around 9 miles round trip. and I love this bike!!! Its a little bit heavy. but its a very smooth ride. It was easy to assemble however i agree with previous reviewers the brakes need some professional help. I will keep it short. If you just want a road bike that looks nice and rides well as a hobby between now and then then this is the bike for you.

I love my new "Ghandi" (Black and Gold) from Retrospec. First of all, it arrived in perfect condition. The box is so sturdy it may have to be kept in my apartment as furniture. Inside the box the bike was packaged so carefully I couldn't believe it. Put it this way, my $6000 Carbon roadie wasn't even packaged this well. The bike came with the rear wheel assembled on the frame on the fixed-gear side, which is fine because that is the way I intend to ride it. The gold wheels that came were 43mm and very aerodynamic in shape. I tested them on my truing wheel and they spun true. The frame alignment was perfect and the geometry is very comfortable. The seat is pretty comfortable, and the grips are really comfortable and the gold handle-bars look amazing. As an avid cyclist I got this thing just for fun, but I'm blown away by the quality. Flip flop hub is a nice feature for those of you who don't want to ride fixed. My 57cm is true to size. I recommend Retrospec wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to get an affordable fixie.

I did much research on road bikes. I found that this Diamondback Podium 1 was a good fit for me due to the price and the gearing. It is light and very fast. I trust Diamondback because I have used them for most of my adult life. The thing that sold me was the bike and the component combination. It does come with pedals with toe straps. I did have to take it in to my LBS to get the derailleurs and the wheels tuned. ($33) Put a Sigma BC1009 computer on. ($22) Its a fun ride. I due agree that the seat is less than comfortable. I brought the bike to work and 3 of my co-worker may buy the same bike. Hope you found this review a benefit and ride safe!

Before I get to the actual bike I'd like to say that the shipping was quick and the packaging was quite impressive. Everything was wrapped in foam, the front wheel was zip tied firmly to the frame.

Like one of the other reviewers, I have a nice road bike that I won't use for commutes. I bought this bike for running errands and to and from the park where I play tennis. I was expecting too much given the price but I'm quite happy with the bike, it's perfect for getting around. The frame is actually quite nice and the double brake levers come in handy. I wasn't thrilled with the saddle but... most saddles that come on bikes aren't great and I had old one laying around that I put on.

it's great for commuting. and it rides well for a road bike on uneven surfaces. the only two drawbacks are the gears and pedals. if you are going steep uphill, and you change gears, the chain often slips if you pedal too hard. the pedals aren't really convenient to get on because they designed it so your foot can't slip off the pedal, that's great but it's a pain to get them on

Review:

Received my bike in timely fashion and packaged nicely. No instructions but as always it's a good idea to have your LBS do the tune up and give it the once over. My LBS noticed a loose spoke which I would not have caught and did a much better job than I could at brake and cable adjustments and settings. $60 is worth it. My brother is a big time recreational cyclist with $2500 to $5000 bikes and while this bike of course is heavier with less expensive components this is a more than adequate for fairly significant weekly mileage and for guys like me who need a less expensive bike for riding or tri sprint events. You will love the integrated shifters. The baskets and pedals aren't great and neither is the seat but those are things you would want to customize anyway. It's also not black, it's more of the darkest purple you can imagine. Great bike for the money and fits my 5-10 210 soon to be 199 pound frame nicely. You won't find a better bike for under $500.00.

I just got my bike today, and I must admit I love it. It is a good quality bike and looks great! The rims aren't alloy or anything, but sill good quality. It very easily stands out from other bikes and I'm glad I bought it. Sure, I had to assemble most of it but it only takes around 45 minutes. If you are looking for a reasonable priced fixie to purchase, this bike is for you. If you choose Super-Saving Shipping, you'll get it in eight days, as that's how long it took to be delivered to my door.
